This was taken in Big Bend National Park, on our way to go rafting on the Rio Grande. I just love the mysteriousness of the scene.

We learned that the next morning, someone else hit a mountain lion on the same road, at the same time of day. Thankfully, the animal was not hurt.

Not Just For Tourists

Since I said goodbye to my scooter, I’ve been walking a lot more in the city. I love walking to work. But do you know what I like even more? Taking the cable car. And so, for the first time in 3 years, I bought a bus pass that enables me to take the cable car regularly… especially uphill.

When I ride the cable car I feel as much of a tourist as any other foreign (to SF) passenger, which makes me want to take pictures. Recently I also got hooked on a nifty little iPhone app called ToonFX Paint. It pretty much cartoonifies any image you take and you can colorize it later.

You then get neat little effects like this…

Last weekend we went camping in Pinnacles National Monument. It was the perfect occasion to play with Justin’s new camera (Pentax K-7).

One of the results… me hiking out of a cave. Arrrgghh.

Snow in Marseille!

The south of France got a wave of snow fall these past couple of weeks and even Marseille got hit (it NEVER snows in Marseille). Does that mean there’s a slight chance for it to snow in San Francisco too?

I got licked by a butterfly!

During a little snack break on our hike up the Horsetail Falls in Desolation Wilderness, a butterfly apparently really liked me. At first it landed and stayed on my t-shirt sleeve, but after a quick flight around, it chose to land (and stay) on my hand.

At first it was just hanging out, opening and closing its wings.

But then, it deployed its long tongue…

… and started to lick me!

I could feel the moisture and cold of the tongue poking at my pores.

It was tickling me.

I don’t know if I tasted sweet or salty or sun-tan lotiony, but it liked me. A lot!

After a good 5-10 minutes just sucking up my juices, my hand got tired and I tried to shoo it away (gently), but it was hanging on… a few seconds later it flew at its own will… Goodbye my ephemorous friend. I hope I fed you well!

Hi Internets, I’ve missed you in the past uh… long time, but blogging has not been my priority lately. However, chillin’ has been!! Tonight, I’ve done enough chillin’ so I decided to post the first of a series of photo slide shows from our trip to France this past month.

This one is mostly focused on Nice (pronounced “Nis” or something like that), its beach, its tiny streets in the old part of town, some fried and non-fried zucchini flower, Socca and more.

Makes me feel like I’m still there!

I’m playing with a new tool… Picasa. So, here’s a mini-slide show of pictures I took of stage rehearsal in Salt Lake. I chose the blurriest ones, because I thought they actually were the most interesting.
